Many of us music collectors have spoken fondly on the topic of creating a mixtape. All the loving care and effort that goes into every song selection, the ordering of the tracks to fit together in a poetic symmetry and of course... having a cool theme behind the mix itself. In the past year I actually picked up a cassette recorder and started making analogue cassette mix tapes. Although not many of my friends actually have a tape deck, I still enjoy the hobby. To make the mixtape more accessible to you, I've decided to start making digital mixes of my analogue recorded vinyl records and posting them up on Soundcloud for anyone to listen and enjoy.
It is agreed then, creating a mixtape is indeed art...
In our debut issue, we have the fun of it being October 2016, and with that, how easy it was to select this months mixtape theme to be Halloween! Yes, so many wonderful songs to pick from...the monster mash, thriller, ghostbusters, right? Nope, sorry. There are plenty of those Halloween playlists on Spotify or your music streaming app of choice.
This month we select vinyl oddities from our vault that fall into the #strangemusic category for our wonderfully spirit filled ride through the strange and the subliminal. From bizarre clowns, terrible twins and a crazy church lady to the terror filled shrieks, ghoulish fun and whipped cream fantasy girls come alive in this one of a kind exclusive mix!
Below you will find the Setlist of artists, a Soundcloud player where you can listen to this exclusive mix, and an image gallery of all the wonderfully strange album covers that were used to create this mix!
