I grew up in the Chicago underground music scene from the 80's and 90's. Danced all night as a teenager in an under 21 juice-bar called Medusa's, which played the most amazing underground acid, industrial, house and alternative dance with a thumping, no clobbering sound system! The record stores around Chicago were also freaking amazing, the live venues to see bands in Chicago were also amazing. Most of all, being right there when WaxTrax! was tearing up the dance charts across the world and getting to hang out with Ministry/RevCo, Thrill Kill Kult and Chris Connelly was a real heavy influence. My favorite music genre's include: Industrial, Indie, Techno, Acid, Acid House, Electronic, New Wave, Alternative Dance, Gabber Techno, Tech-Step, EBM, Break-Beat Techno, Digital Hardcore, Odd Music (ventriloquism, spoken word, weirdo religious, cheesecake, etc.). The newer indie electronic music scene is unbelievable and a lot of the new vinyl I buy is all indie dance electro bands. I have over 2,500 records, and lots of those proudly come from second hand shops and Goodwill. I was driven to start up this website to appeal to the would be record collector and the die hard record collector. I worry that the middle aged resellers are prowling around, stealing all the good finds and then reselling on their crappy eBay store... this puts a bad taste in the mouths of younger 20-30 year olds who want to find a cool yet affordable album or 12" from The Cure or Billy Idol or New Order and when the do find a used record, its over 20 bucks. I want to inspire others to keep collecting or to start collecting, to support your local record stores because their profit margins are slim and without our support, could be lost forever.
