Why Did I Start This Site?
About 5 years ago a close friend of mine brought me to this little known annual event called #RecordStoreDay, where local record stores carry exclusive, limited edition vinyl records and cassettes that can be found one day a year. It was an emotion filled day that recharged my numbed senses and got me back into the amazing world of collecting rare music on vinyl and cassette.
Years back, I had a massive vinyl and CD collection of alternative, electronic, industrial, techno, college radio, punk, acid, tech-step, digital hardcore and many other genres. I grew up a rivet-head club kid in the underground Chicago club music scene. By the time I was 22, times changed and without going into it, I lost almost my entire record collection overnight.
Fast forward to present day, I went from zero records 5 years ago to about 2,500 and still growing each week. I posted records I found proudly on Facebook, but no one really cared, which bummed me out, so I pretty much abandoned FB. But then, I started posting on Instagram and using common # hashtags that anyone searching for vinyl would use. The next thing I know, I'm finding and following dozens of vinyl junkies who search for many of the same things I do. I loved what was out there and it was all worthwhile.
When I hit 200 posts on Instagram, I decided that more should be done to promote the bands I love, the art of crate digging and the incredible rare and bizarre finds I was finding each week. So it was decided to start a blog site, start recording vinyl mixes and posting them, finding long lost bands and artists that deserve the kudos and loving admiration from die hard fans who obsessively collect their albums and go to great lengths to track down the rarest of the rare.

What Does Ghost Talk Mean?
One of the first underground industrial / electronic bands I ever got into on my own was Cabaret Voltaire. I bought their earliest albums back in the mid-1980s and was hooked. The Ghost Talk blog site title is a tribute to the Cabbies and their amazing record, Drinking Gasoline that had a song on it... Ghost Talk.
